Keith Mweemba has been elected President of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), securing 45 votes at the reconvened Elective Annual General Meeting in Kabwe on Friday, May 9, 2025.
He succeeds Andrew Kamanga, who served for nine years, and will lead FAZ from 2025 to 2029.
The election followed a period of legal turbulence after a court injunction postponed the initial vote scheduled for March 29. A delegation from FIFA, CAF, and COSAFA, led by FIFA's Ahmed Harraz, oversaw the process to ensure transparency.
Mweemba edged out Kamanga (20 votes), former FAZ Secretary General Adrian Kashala (17 votes), and two other candidates, Emmanuel Munaile and Francis Hafwiti, who received no support.
The Vice Presidency is headed for a run-off after Justin Mumba and Mutale N’gandu received 41 and 40 votes, respectively, just shy of a majority. Christopher Kasale, with one vote, was eliminated.
Col. Priscilla Katoba was re-elected unopposed as the Representative of Women, affirming the growing presence of women in Zambian football leadership.
