The University of Ghana is holding a special Congregation to swear-in former UN boss, Mr. Kofi Annan as the university’s Chancellor.
The investiture climaxing the University’s 60th anniversary celebrations will be performed by President Kufuor.
The congregation will also confer honourary degrees on 12 eminent personalities including Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, ECOWAS Executive Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambers, Central Bank Governor, Dr. Paul Acquah, Foermer Senior Minister, J. H. Mensah, and Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu.
A posthumous award will also be conferred on former Speaker of Parliament, Peter Ala Adjetey.
The office of Chancellor is the Highest in the University.
Until the adoption of the 1992, it was occupied only by the President of the Republic.
Mr. Annan replaces former Chancellor, Nana Wireku Ampem who died three years ago.
