ACP Kofi Boakye, a former Director of Operations of the Ghana Police Service, was today adjudged the best law student of this year’s graduating class of the Ghana Law School. “Without sounding arrogant, I have always come out as the best in whatever I do,” the elated ACP Boakye told Joy News’ Sammy Darko on Friday. Mr. Boakye who picked five awards during the graduation has officially been called to the Ghana Bar as a fully qualified lawyer after four years study at the law school. ACP Kofi Boakye described his current achievement as invigorating and refreshing. “Coming out as the best student at the law school is quite different; because the legal profession is a noble profession and coming out as the best is quiet invigorating, it is something that is refreshing in spite of all that has happened.” He hinted that he would in the near future take up a lecturing job at a law school. According to Sammy Darko, the capo was the toast of the day, receiving standing ovation amidst cheers whenever his name was mentioned for him to pick one of his awards; describing him as “fantastic…man of the day”. “When he came out everybody wanted to take a picture with him, everybody was calling him,” that was how the reporter recounted the festive moment that surrounded his graduation. On how he sees himself, Kofi Boakye said: "I am just a simple man who want things to be done well and sometimes I am very enthusiastic in doing whatever I do.” He enumerated his academic laurels: “I have a Second Class Upper in Biochemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Masters in Public Administration from the University of Ghana, I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Criminology, Police Management from Leicester University, UK, I have a certificate in Ballistics from Metropolitan Support Services, UK and a Certificate in Combating Arm Violence from Mubarak Academy in Egypt.” ACP Kofi Boakye was interdicted by the Police administration for his role in a controversial cocaine case that hit the country in 2006. Meanwhile upon persistent inquiry from Joy FM’s reporter if he will return to the service and pursue the aim of attaining the office of an Inspector General of Police, he simply replied, “the future is unknown, only God”.
