Firebrand Member of Parliament for the Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has descended heavily on former President Rawlings on his recent comments at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi where he described former members of the New Patriotic Party [NPP] administration as thieves.
At the 32nd commemoration of the June 4 uprising, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings alleged that the NPP administration in its 8-year rule plundered state resources, amassed wealth and killed many innocent Ghanaians to perpetuate their rule.
He said even though ex-president Kufuor cannot by the country’s constitution run for the presidency again, he has “stolen” so much of the country’s money he could impose another leader on the country.
But the Asokwa MP says such comments may be coming from someone who needs psychiatric attention or an individual who could pass for a comedian.
Speaking on Adom TV’s morning show “Badwam” on Multi TV, Kofi Ghana as he is popularly referred to said he believed the many atrocities allegedly committed by the former president may be haunting him after nobody decided to haul him to court.
Between himself, the NPP and Mr. Rawlings, Kofi Jumah said Mr. Rawlings was the most criminal and challenged the ex-President to haul him before any court of competent jurisdiction to prove his allegation.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the erstwhile Armed Forces Revolutionary Council [AFRC], Osahene Boakye Gyan, has angrily responded to a front page comment by the Daily Post, to the effect that Major (Rtd) Boakye Gyan needs a psychiatrist after he [Boakye Gyan] had claimed to have been the architect of the June 4 uprising.
Speaking on Adom TV’s morning show, “Bedwam”, on Multi TV, Osahene Boakye Gyan said it is the writer of such a story who needs psychiatric attention.
Major Boakye Gyan said the claim can only be a diversionary tactic of the Rawlingses.
