Musician Nathaniel Totimeh, better known as Kokoveli, has thrown a challenge to Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, to transform any underground artiste into a mainstream one.
Speaking to KMJ on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the ‘Zaaza’ hit maker stated that Stonebwoy was underground till he was discovered by dancehall act Samini.
He, therefore, believes that if someone has managed to help him to succeed, he should also do same for others.
“Stonebwoy is a product of help. Samini saw the best in him and brought him into the light. I want to see a mainstream artiste that everyone will identify as Stonebwoy's artiste,” he said.
Kokoveli also urged other mainstream artistes to support the younger talents in order to promote the music industry to another level.
He added that one major thing that is gradually killing the music industry is the selective attitudes of individuals who always fight one another instead of supporting each another.
He nevertheless commended artistes like Bullet of Ruff N Smooth, Samini, Shatta Wale and Daddy Lumba for taking up the initiative of bringing up underground artistes into the main stream.
“We are too selective. Instead of the artistes [supporting] one another, they rather fight. Everybody wants to be the boss.”
