Maxwell Konadu has welcomed his appointment as Black Stars assistant coach, explaining that "one can never say never to such a life time opportunity."
The former Ghana international will partner head coach, Kwesi Appiah again after both played at Asante Kotoko in the 90s and also worked together to win Ghana gold at the 2011 All Africa Games.
He acknowledged the task he has taken on is as a result of his hard work.
"However in life, one can never say never to such a life time opportunity. It is the dream of every coach to handle the senior national team and for this to come my way this soon, I only have to thank God and grab the opportunity with both hands," Konadu told the club's official newspaper.
"I know that this opportunity is not borne out of sheer appointment, but that it has been the culmination of performance on the field and a burning desire and steps to improve my lot at every given opportunity."
Konadu, currently coach of Kotoko, who are runaway champions in the Premier League has pleaded with supporters of the Kumasi-based side to understand his acceptance of the national job.
"Much as it is an issue of mixed-feelings at this stage, I want us to look at the bigger picture where Kotoko willl be the eventual beneficiary of all the exposure and knowledge I will acquire." he said.
"I will therefore work hard for Kotoko as always for as long as the schedules of the national team and Kotoko will permit."
