A former midfielder of Asante Kotoko, Yussif Chibsah, has called on the Board of the Porcupine Warriors to assess the report of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Yaw Amponsah before deciding on his future.
"I think they [Asante Kotoko] would have to assess him. I just don't want to sit here and say yes or no [to whether his mandate should be extended or not]," Chibsah said on Prime Take with Muftawu Nabila Abdulai.
"He's worked for about three years now; the Board should ask for his report and assess him based on that and if he's done a good job [based on what they asked him to do], the report will say it, if he hasn't done a good job, it will say it. I just don't want to say extend or not extend it.
"If it should be extended, he should merit it," he stated.
Mr Amponsah was appointed the CEO of Kotoko in August 2020. Under his tenure, Kotoko ended a near-eight failure to win the Ghana Premier League in his second year as head of its management.
Reports say, the club which was run on the benevolence of rich Executive Chairmen is financially independent and he's also built some structures at the club's Adako Jachie training grounds.
These some supporters believe should be considered a success for the former Phar Rangers director who is in the final year of his employment with the Kumasi-based club, though others disagree and want him replaced.
Chibsah reckons his report at the end of his mandate should define his tenure.
"Yes [what he has done], that should be a success because in the past the club has been financed by either the Executive Chairman or whoever is in charge. We've not been able to generate internal funds from the club, so if he's been able to win the league [within three years] and make the club financially independent, that's a success, but as I said, let the Board assess him and when they assess him and establish the fact that he's been achieved certain goals, then why not, he should continue.
"Continuity is good for everyone especially if it's done right. People are talking a lot; everybody is saying what he thinks should be done and you know, there are factions, those who like you will say good things about you, [and] those who don't like you will say bad things and negative things about you, but the reality is there for everyone to see.
"Whatever Nana Yaw Anponsah has done over the three years, the records are there so the board should assess him based on that and decide. Let him continue if he's done a good job, but if he hasn't done a good job and you think someone will do better let them take that decision."
Nana Yaw Amponsah's mandate will expire at the end of the current Ghana premier league season which ends on June 11, 2023.
