Gideon Baah scored his first competitive goal for Asante Kotoko, 24 months after a leg injury nearly ended his career.
Baah broke his leg during the Ghana Premier League derby against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium in March 2010.
The left-back scored one of Kotoko's goals that helped them to a 2-0 win against Mighty Jets at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday in the Glo Premier League.
The win extends Kotoko's lead at the summit to 15 points clear as they plan towards their 22nd title celebrations while defeat leaves Jets in the relegation zone with five matches to go.
Daniel Nii Adjei opened the scoring for Kotoko in the 37th minute to end the first half 1-0 up.
Mighty jets returned from the break determined to find the equaliser but Kotoko goalkeeper Isaac Amoako denied them find the back of the net on many occasions.
With game heading towards a slim Kotoko victory, striker Ahmed Toure laid the ball into the path of Baah to beat goalkeeper Kotei Blankson in goal for Jets in the 87th minute.
The bulk of the weekend's matches are scheduled for Sunday but Kotoko for now, have a commanding lead despite AshantiGold and Hearts of Oak still pushing.
