A member of the legal team of the petitioners in the ongoing Election Petition case before the Supreme Court says international auditing firm, KPMG, is likely to conclude its audit of pink sheet exhibits in two weeks. Gloria Akufo said officials of the company, in a meeting with the parties in the suit have indicated they may be able to finish the job within that period. She was speaking on Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV, Thursday, revealing that officials of the firm will be cross-examined as expert witnesses by the various parties in the case once the auditing is completed. KPMG was tasked to audit all pink sheets presented as exhibits by the petitioners following a request by counsel for the third respondent, Tsatsu Tsikata. He and two other respondents have denied claims by the petitioners that a total of 11,842 pink sheets were served. The firm will not only do a head count of the pink sheets but also categorise them under various irregularities. Gloria Akufo said the audit, which will be done at the premises of the Supreme Court, will bring closure on the matter of the total number of pink sheets. Meanwhile a member of the legal team of the third respondent, Victor Adawudu who was also on the same show, said the second petitioner and star witness Dr Mahamadu Bawumia is likely to be cross examined again based on the outcome of the audit. He reiterated the point that the National Democratic Congress received less than the total number of exhibits the petitioners claim to have served the court. As far as he was concerned, the case when concluded will fundamentally change the organization of elections in Ghana but maintained it will not affect the executive set up of the nation.
