Effective Sunday January 11, 2015, motorists and other road users that use the Kpong Dam Generation route will have to rely on the ferry to get to their destination.
This is because the Volta River Authority is closing the Kpong Dam access route to allow for the rehabilitation works on the intake service gate on one of the generating units.
The road will be closed from 7am to 6pm for the selected number of days which will be made known to the public at a later date.
First phase of the rehabilitation work will begin today and last until next Saturday.
No vehicles or motor bikes will be allowed to use the route during the period but measures have been put in place to allow emergency cases and pedestrians to have guided access.
The Kpong Station Generation Dam road was opened to the public following the closure of the Adomi Bridge to traffic.
Head of Corporate Communications at the VRA, Sam Fletcher says there will be intermittent closure for the next four weeks.
