Former Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffuor has endorsed Anthony Annan's loan move to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.
Annan on Monday secured a season-long loan move from German club, Schalke 04, having fallen down the pecking order since the club appointed new boss Ralf Rangnick.
However, the ex-international, who enjoyed a successful career after a 12-year stint with Bayern Munich believes Annan needs to have more playing time to keep his place in the national team.
“I think it’s a good move for him so that he can enjoy regular playing time,” he said.
”He (Annan) has not started in Ghana’s two previous matches and so it was important for him to go to a place where he can be guaranteed first team action.
“With Essien out, we need the likes of him to fill the void and the way to do that is to play week in and week out.”
Schalke will receive a loan fee, while the Dutch club have negotiated an option to buy the Ghana international midfielder at the end of the season.
