The Labour Commission has directed the Ghana Medical Association to call off its five day strike and return to work. This follows a meeting to arbitrate the dispute between the GMA and the Fair Wages and Salary Commission. A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Commission Mohammed Affum said the two parties must continue deliberations and report back to the Commission on Friday. However, the Labour Commission has directed officials of the two parties to refrain from making any further comment in the media. The Commission also admonished the Pharmacy Association not to carry out its intended strike and undertake further discussion with the Fair Wages and Salary Commission. Health Minister Yieleh Chireh has reiterated government's call for the striking doctors to return to work. He made the appeal, Wednesday, during a working visit to some of the public hospitals in Accra.
