A clinic which serves about ten communities in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region may soon be closed down on the orders of the owner of a property where it operates. The landlord is demanding Gh¢ 8,000 rent before allowing the clinic to run for another two years - a 100% rent increase within a year. Authorities of Bebu Methodist Clinic are unable to pay what they say is the exorbitant rent charges the landlord is demanding. The landlord has given a grace period of one month for the clinic authorities to come up with the rent. Besides the rent challenges, the only clinic serving more thousands residents in the Atwima Kwanwoma District is also battling with space and equipment problems. Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor reports that there is no children's ward, as sick children are forced to share spaces with adults on the concrete floor. Silas Asiedu, Deputy Nursing Administrator of the clinic, says they raising funds to complete a new structure they are putting up in a bid to meet the one-month deadline given by the landlord before ejection.
