Participants at an anti-corruption workshop are calling for a ceiling on the value of donations and gifts that public servants could accept. They are also calling for improved remuneration for public servants to discourage them from corrupt acts. These form part of the outcome of deliberations held in the Volta, Northern and Eastern regions. The workshop was organized by the group which is drafting a ten-year action plan on corruption. Florence Dennis who is the Executive Secretary of the Ghana anti-Corruption Coalition said the participants were of the view that the ethics and integrity structures of the country must be looked at again. They contended that the low remuneration in the country’s public institutions serve to encourage corruption. The participants also called for strict enforcement of laws that require political parties to publish their accounts. Source: Joy News/Ghana
