The Manhyia Palace has become the centre of solemn tradition and cultural grandeur as the first day of the royal burial rites of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, commences.
Hundreds of mourners, draped in red and black, have thronged the palace courtyard to pay homage to the departed queen mother, whose legacy remains deeply woven into the fabric of Asanteman.

Traditional drumming, horn blowing, and dirges fill the air, creating an atmosphere that reflects both mourning and reverence.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, together with chiefs and royals of the Ashanti Kingdom, will lead the 4-day 'DoteYie.'.
Government officials, religious, political, traditional leaders, and well-wishers from across Ghana and beyond are expected to join the royal household in the days ahead for the burial rites.
