There are strong indications that had it not been a last minute hitch, Real Madrid star Michael Essein would have tied the knot today, Monday.
Deep throat sources close to the star hinted Myjoyonline.com that, Essien, who made a last minute loan move from Chelsea to Real Madrid last month, was set to marry at a venue in Weybridge in London.
The wedding, the source said, has been postponed due to the postponement of Real Madrid’s match with Rayo Vallecano at the Vallecas stadium Sunday night.
The match was postponed after power to the stadium was reportedly cut by fans.
Myjoyonline.com gathers Essien would have flown to London to join specially invited friends and football stars for the wedding.
Another source disclosed that the lucky lady at the centre of the wedding is Akosua Puni, who is rumoured to be carrying Essien’s second child.
The official twitter handle of Real Madrid tweeted Sunday night that: “Michael Essien is forced to postponed his wedding that was planned to be tomorrow (Monday) after postponing RM game to the same day. [Goal]”
Akosua Puni, manager of Essien and his Michael Essien Foundation, was rumoured to have had relationship stints with former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah and musician, Jerry Anaba popularly known as Okomfour Kwadee.
