Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya in the greater Accra region, Adwoa Safo is preaching religious tolerance ahead of the December 7th general election.
According to her, despite the country’s religious diversity which comes with it a potential for violence, Ghana has another opportunity to demonstrate to the world, it is a peaceful country.
Adwoa Safo who serves on the Foreign Affairs and the Public Accounts committees of Parliament is among selected MPs from Ghana attending the 2nd international conference on promoting and protecting Freedom of Religion and Beliefs organized by the international panel of parliamentarians for freedom of religion in Germany.
Proponents of the conference believe the world's biggest challenge is the increasing tension between Christians and Muslims.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel who opened the conference said tolerance of each other’s religious belief will make the world a better place.
Speaking to Joynews, Adwoa Safo said Ghana will be making a mockery of her signatory to the universal declaration on human rights if protection and promotion of rights of religious belief are not respected.
He called on government to make conscious effort at implementing the charter to give meaning to the declaration.
