Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has announced that MultiChoice Africa will provide a GH¢555 subsidy for the Zapper decoder and dish kit.
This means new customers will be able to purchase the decoder and dish kit at 50% of its current price, representing yet another 50% discount for subscribers, he noted.
The development was announced at a press briefing in Accra on Monday, September 29, after an engagement with the pay-TV provider.
This, he noted, is in addition to the 33% to 50% value increase already provided.
"In addition, MultiChoice Africa will provide a GH¢555 subsidy for the zapper decoder and dish kit. New customers will therefore be able to get the zapper and dish kit at 50% of its current price. So, yet another 50% discount for subscribers."
The Minister explained that a committee will reconvene in three months to evaluate the impact of this initiative, stressing that the review will be an ongoing and periodic exercise.
He added that the government remains committed to ensuring citizens benefit from such collaborations with the private sector.
“The message today is simple: the government of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is on your side, and MultiChoice is a responsible business operating in Ghana,” the minister stated.
