A music producer arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine has expelled about 80 pellets of the narcotic contraband.
Officials of the Narcotics Control Board say Sam Sarfo Kantanka claims to have swallowed 96 of the pellets.
Acting Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board, Akrasi Sarpong, has told Joy News the music producer was arrested on Tuesday evening at the Kotoka International Airport as he was going through boarding formalities for a flight to the United Kingdom.
Tests conducted have also proven the substance to be cocaine, Mr Sarpong confirmed, adding that the suspect will be arraigned before a court in Accra after he has expelled everything.
Role models
“What saddens me about these things is that these are guys who are role models, and when they are arrested, it [twists] the minds of people. The whole role model culture just breaks apart; it’s so sad,” Mr Sarpong said, and called on the church to pray for “holy anger” against such persons.
According to him, it is important to ‘pray’ such persons out of that attitude so they don’t negatively influence society.
Mr Kantanka’s arrest follows those of another music producer Isaac Aidoo, Chief Executive Officer of Goodies Music Production.
He was also arrested recently at the KIA and confessed that he was “hard pressed for cash as a music producer” and decided to swallow cocaine to be delivered to someone in the United Kingdom for a fee.
CEO of Modelling Company Exopa was also arrested and charged with concealing cocaine in a tuber of yam.
