Berekum Chelsea Captain Abdul Basit has indicated that his unavailability for selection in their CAF Champions league qualifying match against Cameroonian side Cotton Sport from Garoua in Berekum will not affect the team’s quest of winning.
The offensive midfielder has picked two yellow cards from the previous qualifying rounds and is not qualified to play at the Golden City Park. Basit received his first yellow card during the preliminary round tie against LISCR of Liberia in Monrovia. His second booking was against Raja Casablanca in Monrovia early this month.
“I’m disappointed for not playing but I believe that will not hinder the team from winning the game”. He told JOY Sports
“I believe in the players and I’m optimistic they can deliver at all cost”.
Abdul Basit has been the best midfielder in the local game the last two seasons and is tipped to make his international debut in June for the Black Stars.
Basit scored in their 5-0 thrashing of Raja Casablanca in the previous round.
