The 2018 Accra International Book Festival (AIBF) Literary Awards will come off on Saturday, March 30, 2019.

The ceremony will be attended by the Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Josephine Nkrumah and former Deputy Tourism Minister, Dzifa Abla Gomashie.

It will also draw participants from both the reading and writing communities in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The event will take place at the N8tive Food and Beverage Bar located at the Airport Residential Area near Nyaho Clinic on the Kofi Annan Street in Accra.

The results of the #aibf27books campaign started in January this year would be announced at the ceremony.

The joint 2018 AIBF Literary Awards and #aibf27books campaign would be chaired by former Vice-Chancellor of the Tamale Technical University and Chairman of the Ghana Folklore Board, Professor Abdulai Salifu Asuro.

Over 150 people, made up of writers and book lovers, are expected to attend the event, Creative Director of the Accra International Book Festival (AIBF), Kwabena Brakopowers has disclosed.

“It is an event that has been designed to celebrate African writers, as well as pure African literature in Accra, Ghana and we, are expecting many influencers in the industry there,” he said.

The winners of the 2018 AIBF Literary Awards who would be honoured at the ceremony include, Poet Celestine Nudanu (AIBF First Book Award) and American writer, Brooke C. Obie (Independent Writer Award).

The Book Festival has launched the 2019 competition in search of writing projects which can shape the world’s view about Africa.
