A group of people believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reportedly stormed the Bui Power Authority (BPA) on Saturday, 11 January 2025, demanding the immediate dismissal of all employees.
The group’s actions, captured in a viral video, showcased their agitation and determination to see sweeping changes at the Authority.
According to the group, their demands stem from the NDC’s recent return to power, which they believe necessitates a complete overhaul of the BPA's personnel.
They argued that the Authority requires new management to ensure improved performance and equitable opportunities for all.
The protesters expressed dissatisfaction with the country’s development over the past eight years, attributing the lack of progress to ineffective leadership.
They insisted that a change in the BPA’s management was critical to fostering growth and addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.
“We are here to inform everyone employed at BPA, from management to security staff, that now our government is in power,” the group’s spokesperson declared. “We demand that all of them pack their belongings and vacate their positions.”
The spokesperson further emphasised their frustrations, stating: “For the past eight years, we have witnessed no tangible improvements in our country. If anything, we should have seen progress and growth. We are fed up, and not even John Mahama can deter us because the country belongs to all of us.”
The group concluded by calling on the new Energy Minister to act decisively in addressing their concerns.
They maintained that the current leadership of the BPA must be replaced to pave the way for a brighter future for the nation.
