The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has hinted its 2016 manifesto will focus on investment in the Agriculture sector.

According to the party, the investment in the sector is expected to ensure the creation of more jobs in the country from 2017 to 2020.

NDC Director of Elections, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo disclosed this to Joy news as the nation has barely six months to the November polls.

The political parties have come under some criticism for their reluctance to outdoor their manifestoes.

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it will not release its manifesto due to what the party described as the “copycat” attitude of the NDC. The NPP claimed its 2012 manifesto was doctored and plagiarized by the NDC.

But Mr Ampofo said the NDC did not plagiarize the NPP’s 2012 manifesto and has no interest in doing so.

He disclosed the NDC’s manifesto is ready and will be outdoored in July 2016.

“We are the ruling party and the government of the day and so already we have a manifesto which we are prosecuting,” he said.

He described the current manifesto being used by the government as “work in progress.”

Giving a clear distinction, he said “the new manifesto will look at what we have achieved under the old one. What are the unfinished jobs to be done and what are the emerging new trends and new policy initiatives that will be taken.”
