New venue for 4th Sports Expo, 2012

The 4th Accra Biennial Sports Expo 2012 scheduled to come on in Accra from Tuesday, 15th to Friday, 18th May, 2012 will now be held at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Accra, organizers of the event, RICS Consult Limited have announced. “The change of the venue from the Accra Sports Stadium has been necessitated by reasons beyond our control,” Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Executive of RICS Consult said in a press release. Meanwhile, eight [8] of the major speakers billed to speak on various topics at the four–day conference themed: ‘Promoting Africa’s Talents Globally: Role of Sports Business’ have confirmed their participation. They include Mr. Kenneth Ashigbey, MD of Graphic Communications Group who will speak on the topic, ’Franchising, Merchandising & Licensing For Africa Sports & Talents Development’; Mr. Alhassan Andani, MD of Stanbic Bank, Ghana on the topic, ‘Brands Development & Sports Sponsorship in Africa: The Stanbic Experience’; and Mr. Frank Tackie, Director General, Consortium on the topic, ‘Developing Multi-faceted Viable Sports Infrastructure for African Nations‘. Others are Mr. Edward Boateng, Executive Chairman, Global Media Alliance. He speaks on the topic: ‘Sports, an Emerging Industry in Africa: Defining Framework for Continental Empowerment‘; and Prof. Reginald T. Ocansey, Coordinator, Ghana Physical Education & Sports Think-Tank who will also speak on: ‘Redefining The Role of School Physical Education in Grassroots Talent Promotion’. The rest are Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, Director, University of Ghana Sports Directorate on two topics: ‘Talent Identification & Development in Africa: An Overview’ and ‘Achieving the Millennium Development Goals [MDGs] Through Sports: The Ghanaian Experience’; and Mr. Philip Sowah, MD Airtel Ghana. He speaks on ‘Using of Mobile Phone Applications in Promoting Sports‘. The Sports Expo will focus on ways of leveraging all facets of sports business principles and practices to develop and globally promote Africa’s sports talents while seeking to reach consensus on a designed roadmap to assist African nations, governments, sports policymakers, administrators and performers re-think spirits as an emerging industry with all its attendant benefits to grow African economies.
