Nhyira FM and Multi TV are partnering the chiefs and people of Ankaase in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region in a mega Easter Party to promote tourism.
The event, scheduled for Easter Monday, 17th April, introduces holiday makers the unexplored side of Lake Bosomtwe.
Earlier attempts to promote Ankaase side of lake in were discontinued due to poor road conditions, despite high patronage of the maiden edition in 2012.
The road has improved and organizers are confident this year’s Easter Party will attract a bigger attendance than what was considered the biggest crowd in history five years ago.
Community leaders say the initiative will put Ankaase on the world map of economic opportunity, as they look forward to reaping the benefits of tourism potential in and around Ankaase.
Nana Boadu Akwaa is Akwamuhene.
“My elders and the entire community have decided to develop the Ankaase side of the lake Bosomtwe to promote tourism for economic advancement.
“We have decided to organize a mega party for the general public most importantly tourism lovers,” Nana Boadu said.
Assembly member for the area, Sharon Mensah, assured patrons of adequate security and unimpeded movement, with the newly constructed road.
“We have prepared adequately for this Easter Monday party on the lake. It is our utmost priority to promote tourism is Ankaase therefore we have invested in planting trees around the bank of the lake to keep the lake attractive for leisure purposes.”
Perhaps, one side attraction would be how a senior citizen Abusuapanin Kyei Atakora, repository of all-important history of the famous natural lake would be at hand to give you all that you have to know about the biggest natural lake in West Africa.
“We have stories and folktales and mysteries around this natural lake, we are ready to relay our unwritten tradition to the young and all those who will come to Ankaase on this Easter Monday,” Opanin Attakora revealed
