Mobile Registration Workstation (MRW) Operators of the National Identification Authority have threatened legal action against the authority over claims of unfair treatment and unpaid allowances.
The operators of the authority Monday morning besieged its offices, disrupting work and threatening to sue the management.
More than 100 operators temporarily engaged by the NIA besieged the Authority’s Head Office to register their anger over claims that they have not been paid their allowances in the past seven months.
The irate workers also complained that a selected few were chosen to start the distribution of national ID cards nearly four years after registration started across the country.
“Our next move is that we are taking the authority and for that matter the government on. We are going to the Labour Commission and from there to the Supreme Court,” the irate workers told Joy News adding they are going to mobilize their colleagues to descend on Accra and demonstrate.
The Chief Executive of the Authority, Dr William Ahadzie speaking to Joy News dismissed the claims. He welcome the legal action threatened by workers.
Intervention by the Legon police brought the situation under control.
