The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a radical shift in its internal administration, launching a comprehensive digital membership registration portal and strictly prohibiting constituency executives from collecting dues or any cash from party members.
Addressing the media on the party’s internal membership registration, the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, revealed on Thursday, March 12, that the move is designed to ensure transparency and modernise the party's database. Under the new directive, all financial contributions must be processed through the party’s official digital channels.
In a move to centralise the party’s finances and eliminate unauthorised collections, the General Secretary clarified that while physical dues cards will still be issued, they serve merely as confirmation of records already captured on the digital system.
- No Cash Policy: Constituency chairmen, secretaries, and treasurers are strictly forbidden from accepting cash for dues.
- Verification Access: Local executives have been granted access to the digital platform to authenticate cards and verify members’ payment statuses in real-time.
- Payment Channels: Members are directed to pay dues via the NPP Mobile App or the USSD code ***920*270#.
To complement the online portal, the NPP is embarking on a three-week nationwide exercise across all 276 constituencies and over 40,000 polling stations. The exercise will take place every Saturday and Sunday from 14th March to 31st March 2026, between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
Members who register online will receive a temporary digital card, but a physical visit to their designated polling station is mandatory to complete the process and secure a permanent membership card.
“Registration and dues payment do not automatically grant the right to vote or contest internal elections. Eligibility remains subject to verification and compliance with the party’s constitution, including enrollment in the polling station register,” Mr. Kodua Frimpong cautioned.
The new registration portal has been designed to accommodate three distinct groups:
- Registered Voters: Ghanaians already on the national electoral roll.
- Non-Registered Voters: Eligible citizens who are not yet on the national roll.
- Daispora Members: NPP supporters living abroad who wish to formalise their membership.
To ensure the integrity of the three-week exercise, the National Secretariat has established a dedicated call centre to receive real-time feedback and reports of non-compliance. Members who encounter challenges or witness executives flouting the "no cash" directive are urged to contact the following numbers: 0308047970, 0308047971, or 0308047972.
The General Secretary’s directive comes at a time of heightened political activity as parties refine their registers ahead of future internal contests. By moving to a digital-only financial model, the NPP aims to eliminate the "fictitious" records and "systemic lapses" that have historically plagued political party administration in the country.
