Nigerian musician Banky W, known in real life as Olubankole Wellington, was one of hundreds of passengers virtually 'held hostage' in an air plane operated by Nigerian airline, Arik Air, a few days ago.
A video of the incident, believed to have occurred on March 31, shows frustrated passengers aboard the plane in Lagos, Nigeria for New York, United States, protesting the unbearable conditions they were being subjected to.
According to some of the passengers, they were subjected to delays in checking-in but was not all; the plane's air-conditioning malfunctioned and the passengers got trapped in unbearable heat.
Not even an announcement by a flight attendant "Ladies and gentlemen, this is going to be solved in ten minutes..." could convince and angry passengers to stay in their seats.
Some passengers, who said they were being held "air hostage", demanded the flight attendants to open the doors for them to leave the plane.
Banky W's attempt to calm an angry passenger, who could no longer cope with the situation , and other passengers from storming the cockpit nearly resulted in a nasty scuffle.
"My brother forget it..." the passenger said. Banky W replied "why are you shouting at me, you want to start fighting here?"
