"With great power comes great responsibility" is a piece of parting advice popularised by Spider-Man in Marvel comics.
But some Nigerians took it personally. Many agitated citizens say its ongoing general election is a good occasion for the Avengers to assemble.

Nigeria is currently counting votes in what has been touted as an election with the highest youth turnout.
In a tirade of tweets on Monday, many of them on social media called on the wielders of powers to wade in on what they see as malpractices being perpetrated in the just-ended polls.

Interestingly, the Marvel superheroes were not the only group copied in the mail.

The Justice League has also been summoned to beef up the surveillance.

These requests were channelled through the Instagram DMs, with the hope of seeing Thor or The Incredible Hulk touch down in Lagos State to help collate the votes in a free and fair manner.

The election has seen an unprecedented challenge to the two-party system that has dominated Nigeria for 24 years.

The candidates comprise Peter Obi from the previously lesser-known Labour Party, Mr Tinubu from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and 15 others.

Essentially, some Nigerian voters will be expecting either the S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier or the Infinity-1 Javelin hovering over some states before counting is concluded.
