Youth and Sports Minister Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye urged the Black Stars to go for a win against Mozambique in their 2017 AFCON qualifier.
The Minister paid a visit to the team after their first training session ahead of the qualifier.
It is the first time the Minister has paid a visit to camp of the Black Stars after taking charge of the ministry.
Nii Lantey Vanderpuye was glad to meet the Stars for the first time and warmly welcomed the team.
“I want to welcome you back into the country first of all. As you prepare to take on Mozambique at the Accra sports stadium on March 24 I know you will make me proud as the sports minister.”
“I thank you very much for even training while it is raining and it shows your level of commitment, dedication and patriotism to the country.”
The Sports Minister further encouraged the players to win against Mozambique because the whole country was expectant.
“I know that it will be a difficult match because they are also planning to come and shock the country but I know that you are prepared and you will win against them and win in the return leg as well.”
“We are prepared to do everything to make sure that you win to make the country happy because we are solidly behind you.”
Only 14 players available for Monday’s but Avram Grant is expected to have the full complement of his squad for subsequent sessions.
