Young sensation disc jockey Erica Tandoh aka DJ Switch is pleading with other DJs to not be offended by her recognition as the Best DJ of the Year at the just ended Ghana DJ Awards.
Speaking on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM, DJ Switch said she does not feel the Award calls for competition among DJs.
“This is not a competition and no one is a loser. I feel that this is an honour, and I am grateful for that,” she told Mamavi Owsusu-Aboagye, host of the show.
DJ Switch was adjudged ‘Best DJ of the Year’ at the 2019 Ghana DJ Awards on Saturday at the Accra International Conference Center.
She beat DJ Mic-Smith, DJ Vyrusky, DJ Sly, DJ Aroma and DJ Black to grasp the coveted award.
Many Ghanaians have described her win shocking, explaining that she still had a lot to learn before she could be put in that category with the other DJs.
Others said DJ Switch was not only young but she was not doing disc jockeying as a job like the others in the category.
The young DJ, however, was thankful to every DJ and fan that had been with her throughout her journey to being recognised as the best.
Asked how she feels about her achievements this year, Switch said it only proved her aim to inspire her mates and younger ones is working.
“We can also grow and make the world a better place,” she said.
