The Communications Team of New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer for the 2012 elections has disclosed that they have been forced to use personality attack as part of their strategy for 2012 general elections. A member team, John Kumah said the ruling National Democratic Congress has continuously attacked the personality of their presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo since he was made the flagbearer of the party. Mr. Kumah stressed that the NPP will not hold back this time around if the NDC attacks the personality of their presidential candidate. John Kumah stated that NDC has consistently used personality attacks to campaign instead of campaigning on issues. According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo has served the nation for the past 35 years with no criminal background. He added that the President Mills-led administration has conducted six different forensic audits on Nana Addo at the Foreign Affairs Ministry but found nothing negative they can use against him. John Kumah noted that the NPP will begin to investigate the children and family background of President Mills and use it against him come 2012. He alleged that the President Mills has a male child outside wedlock and nobody seems to be aware of the whereabouts of his son. He challenged President Mills and his team to tell Ghanaians of the whereabouts of his son. John Kumah stated that the NPP is ready to walk in the gutters with the NDC on personality attacks. Reacting to the issue, the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng-Gyan stated that the NDC will not tolerate any kind of personality attacks even if the NPP used it as a tool for the elections. Yaw Boateng Gyan reiterated that Politics should not be about attacking personality but rather focusing on issues. He urge the NPP to tackle political issues and programmes rather than indulging in personality attacks. Story: Samuel Mantey/Adomonline.com/Ghana
