A New Patriotic Party delegate at the Ablekuma North constituency has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a man who is reportedly dead.

Although photos on the ID card and that of the register matched, it was however identified that that the name in the register belonged to a member of the party who had died earlier this year.

The situation was reported to the police and the gentleman was subsequently arrested and sent to the Odorkor Police Station, Joy News Fred Smith reports.

Voting is underway today, June 13, 2015 in some 245 constituencies across the country to elect Members of Parliament for the opposition New Patriotic Party.

In the Ablekuma North incumbent Justice Joe Appiah is facing stiff competition from two others, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie and Kofi Ofori.

The election is taking place at the GloryLand Hotel at Ordokor.

Meanwhile, Fred reports that a woman has set up a table near the venue distributing envelopes to delegates in the full glare of the police, election and party officials.

Some of the delegates told Fred Smith there is money in the envelopes being distributed but would not mention how much.

Fred sighted the picture of one of the candidates Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie printed on the envelopes.
