Steel manufacturers in Ghana have assured the public that prices of steel products will remain stable, following a series of government interventions, including measures supporting the current stability of the Cedi.
The assurance was given on Friday, January 23, when the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, met with steel producers at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Accra.

Speaking to the press during the meeting, Mike Thakwani, Chairman of B5 Plus Ltd and spokesperson for the Association of Steel Manufacturers, emphasised that despite some challenges affecting the sector, steel prices would not be increased.
He also assured that steel products would continue to be readily available in markets across the country.

He further reiterated the industry’s commitment to supporting government initiatives and expressed appreciation to the Trade Minister for her consistent cooperation and support to the sector over the years.

In her remarks, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare commended the steel manufacturers for their significant contribution to national development and economic growth.

She acknowledged the vital role the industry plays in strengthening the Ghanaian economy and noted that manufacturers had raised several operational challenges requiring government support.

The Minister also expressed gratitude to the steel producers for the sacrifices they continue to make in support of economic growth.

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with the steel sector to ensure its sustained growth and development, underscoring the industry's importance in driving Ghana’s industrialisation agenda.
