A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Osafo-Marfo, has given upbeat assessment of the party’s chances in the Eastern Region, predicting a win of not less than 75 per cent of the popular votes.
He dismissed the governing party’s claim to split the votes equally, 50-50, labeling it as “wishful thinking”.
Mr. Osafo-Marfo, a former Minister, said everything was pointing to a comfortable electoral victory for the NPP in the region.
Launching the party’s campaign in the Kade Constituency, he said, voters were yearning for change and that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was heading for embarrassing defeat.
The NPP would, however, not be complacent but would work hard to reach every voter and compete for every vote.
Mr. Osafo-Marfo said the party’s government, led by Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, would lead the nation back to prosperity and growth.
It would efficiently manage the nation’s resources to create wealth and jobs for the people, he added.
He criticized the Mahama Administration for the neglect of the region, citing the terrible nature of roads running through the area and said the people would punish the government for that.
He rallied the people to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo and the parliamentary candidate, Mr. Kwabena Ohemeng-Tinyase.
Mr. Ohemeng-Tinyase called for hard work, unity, loyalty and sacrifice among the party’s followers to assure the NPP of resounding victory in the coming December election.
