Nursing trainees across the country have been urged to vote for the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming general elections
According to the Bawumia Identifiable Group Connect, a pro-NPP group, Dr. Bawumia represents hope and prosperity considering the initiatives he spearheaded during his tenure as Vice President and his catalogue of promises.
The National Deputy Secretary of the Bawumia Identifiable Group Connect, Dr Michael Kyeremanteng made the call during an entrepreneurship training program at the Ho Nursing Training College in the Volta Region.
“Let us advise ourselves of good governance, of leadership that will bring transformation to our country Ghana. Leadership that will bring transformation to the various enterprises. Leadership that will transform to the various jobs that you want to do. And the only leadership is to make sure that you maintain the legacy of this particular government and administration”, he said.
He was peculiar about the credit scoring system recently launched by Dr Bawumia, explaining that it would help contribute to improving the financial status of Ghanaians, as well as alleviating delays in the payment of trainee allowances, among others.

“This is a policy leadership is looking at bringing in the coming years and it will be able to absorb every student and mitigate issues of student allowances in delay, someone will say my allowance has been delayed for like eight months, like five months and this credit scoring system will be able to mitigate all these issues of delay”, he said.
Dr Kyeremanteng, however, explained that it would be difficult for any government to absorb all trained nurses into the public sector hence the need for nurses to begin nurturing entrepreneurship careers to cushion themselves financially in Ghana, instead of traveling out of the country.
A Member, of the Bawumia Identifiable Group Connect, Andy Kofi Kuffour stressed the need for nursing trainees to identify challenges in society and endeavor to solve them by setting up enterprises to render services.
He entreated the trainees to emulate him, who is a practicing lawyer, but juggling other businesses to make ends meet.

“I own 11 companies, you can do the same, you can get into the pharmaceutical industry or any other related industry. The knowledge you are acquiring here is what is gonna take you there”, he said.
The entrepreneurship program was organized by Bawumia Identifiable Group Connect in a bid to curb the exodus of trained health professionals in search of greener pastures.
The program featured seasoned entrepreneurs who used themselves as case studies to encourage trainee nurses to go into entrepreneurship while studying and after school.
