If there’s anything at all you shouldn’t miss this year, it shouldn’t be the Roverman Festival of Plays. Why? Because the sweet controversy surrounding Roverman this year has been eye catching enough to make your jaws literally drop.
And the controversial sweetness is just on point.
GAMES MEN PLAY:
Games men play is an almost prophetic account of what happened to the Black Stars in Brazil, well except the flying dollars and the money kissing. But what do you call a play that had football players revolting in camp, coaches being sacked, bribes being offered and juju men invading camp? And this was staged before the world cup! Although Uncle Ebo doesn’t want it being referred as such, this play is definitely a prophetic insight to our world cup exploits. You should see it!
MAKE ME A WOMAN TONIGHT (Adults Only):
The controversy about this play began right when the title was announced on air. Uncle Ebo was going to put sex on stage! He was going to talk about a forbidden subject in a live play. Of course people had issues with it, but people wanted to see how far Uncle Ebo wanted to go with this. He had promised to tip the scales; everyone wanted to see how far he was going to tip the scales. And the results? Phenomenal! The set was fantastic, cast was awesome and this was the play that was featured on CNN! Yep! Cable News Network! This was also the play which had only six members of cast holding everyone spellbound. You surely don’t want to miss it!
UNFORGIVEN:
Unforgiven took patrons to a very peculiar setting; Inside Roverman Productions itself. The play gave patrons an insight to what happens on a regular basis in the group from auditions to production. The warm ups, the rehearsals and the wahala. You shouldn’t miss this one!
HOUSE OF SECRETS:
On the day a minister designate vetted a very nasty aspect of her past shows up, threatening to destroy her reputation by revealing a secret she has been hiding for over a decade. House Of Secrets is this year’s throwback play. The play was originally staged in 2010 and the lessons in there are still relevant today. And of course, ministers and dark cupboards is a subject you’ll definitely want to see through!
WOMEN ON FIRE:
Need I say more? After a very successful run of the latest play, we bring it to you once again. This is Roverman’s most organized disorganized play due to where it was set; in a market. In a market where diplomatic passports are sold, you sure don’t want to underestimate the level of errrmmm….what’s the word…laughter. This is a play which is rated C (Where C means comedy) – and when Roverman says comedy, get ready to fall off your seat.
The Festival Starts from the 27th of December 2014 to the 4th of January 2015. There will be two shows each day. Tickets are going for GHȻ200 for the full package and GHȻ60 for individual plays.
