One of the ferries carrying vehicles and passengers from Senchi to Akrade broke down on the Volta Lake Thursday, causing fear and panic among passengers aboard.
It took a concerted effort by the technical crew on board and the Marine Police, to bring the ferry safely to shore after staying on the waters for nearly three hours.
Assemblyman for the area, Isaac Owusu told Joy News the situation has resulted in vehicular traffic as only one ferry is left to facilitate the movement of vehicles and passengers across the river.
Mr. Owusu said the engineers were busily investigating the cause of the problem to fix it as early as possible.

The Ghana Highway Authority launched the two ferries- “Senchi” and “Akrade”- to carry vehicles and passengers across the Volta River following the closure of the Adomi Bridge on March 15.
Since the closure in March this year, drivers and passengers continue to face frustration, despite assurances and the provision of alternative routes.
The alternatives are the use of the old road via two pontoons at Akrade, and the second is for drivers to use the new road from the Tema Roundabout to Sogakope through Adidome to Ho, which is considered too long.
