Parents of students at the Goaso Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Ahafo Region have expressed growing concern over the government’s continued delay in posting nurses after they successfully complete their training.
During a stakeholder engagement session with the college’s management and students, some parents shared with Adom News their financial sacrifices to support their children’s education, hoping for a timely government posting after graduation.
However, they say the prolonged delays have become a troubling trend.
The parents highlighted that despite completing their studies, their children and wards remain unemployed and continue to rely on them for financial support, exacerbating their economic burden.
As a result, they are calling on the newly formed government to urgently address this longstanding issue, which they say negatively impacts both the graduates and their families.
Meanwhile, Matilda Afia Boagyewaa, Assistant Director at the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, who spoke on behalf of the Ahafo Regional Minister, assured the gathering that the government has plans in place to improve the welfare of student nurses.
She encouraged students to stay focused on their studies and remain hopeful.
