The Chairman of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, PURC has called on Ghanaians to be patient with the Ghana Water Company as it finds a permanent solution to the current water situation facing parts of the country.
Mr. Kwame Pianim who made the appeal while speaking on Joy FM’s super Morning Show on Monday said the situation had deteriorated over the years and that would take a while to fix.
He said there was therefore need for cooperation between the public, workers and new management of the water company to ensure lasting solutions were arrived at.
Officials of the Ghana Water Company speaking on JOY FM’s Super Morning Show said the company was working round the clock to ensure that water reached every part of the country.
They admitted to rationing water in the Accra metropolis but said the problem was receiving attention.
Mr. Pianim contributing to the discussion emphasised the need for greater cooperation between the new management and workers and said failing that would result in interference.
He said already there were perceptions that the new management was not delivering and a confrontation between the workers and the managers could only lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Earlier in the day, workers of the company demonstrated at the head office to back demands for the abrogation of a government contract, maintaining that the new managers were incompetent.
