The Police at Tafo/Pankrono in Kumasi have arrested two persons in connection with the death of the grandson of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Barimma Akwasi Prempeh, believed to be in his early 30s, was found dead on a school park at Tafo Nhyiaeso, a serene residential area of Kumasi on the dawn of Monday.
The Tafo/Pankrono Divisional Crime Officer, Boakye Ansah, told DAILY GUIDE that the two persons were picked up by the police to help in their investigations on Tuesday.
Mr. Ansah refused to reveal the identities of the apprehended suspects, explaining that investigations into the case had just begun.
The police boss said the real cause of the death of Barimma Prempeh could not be ascertained as at now. He said the police considered his death natural until it was later proved otherwise. According to him, the police were now awaiting the results of the post mortem that would be performed on the body of the deceased before they could determine the exact cause of death.
Mr. Ansah said the results of the post mortem would be ready by Friday, stressing that the results would direct the way in which the police would conduct further investigations into the death of Mr. Prempeh.
Since Barimma Prempeh’s body was found on the school park, there have been reports that the deceased was murdered and was later dumped on the field.
Prempeh was said to be in good health until his body was found on the school field on Monday morning by residents of the peaceful neighbourhood.
He was said to be among the royals that were very close to the palace and one of those who ran daily errands for the monarch.
Meanwhile, Daily Guide gathered that the deceased was the elder brother of Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s central defender, Ohene Brenya.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s representative on Kessben FM, Nana Owusu, announced that the club’s management had visited the bereaved family to console them.
