The Police have locked up the Okaikoi South constituency office of the New Patriotic Party, Friday.
This is after some executives and members of the constituency broke into the office following a disagreement.
The constituency is yet to come out with a clear winner and candidate after results of the party’s parliamentary primaries were challenged by two-time contender, Vicky Bright.
Vicky Bright lost to Ahmed Asser by 12 votes in a hotly contested primaries held April 30 but she suspects foul play after the results were declared.
Vicky on May 1, a day after the primaries, told Joy News that the voting process was flawed.
“I have major issues with the election process, in the sense that the number of votes cast that were ticked in the register does not tally with the number of votes that were actually cast. Somebody obviously was not doing their arithmetic properly,” she said.
Friday, some executives and members of the constituency allegedly broke into the office in an attempt to get the results nullified.
Joy News reports that the Police have confirmed that the doors to the office were tempered with but declined further comment on the matter.
