The second batch of 165 police sergeants due for promotion to Inspectors have started a two-week course at the Central Regional Police Training School in Winneba.
It forms part of series of courses being undertaken by the Police Administration to equip the police to perform well.
In a message read on behalf of the Inspector General of Police by Assistant Commissioner of Police Nathaniel Kofi Boakye at the opening ceremony on Monday at Winneba, he said, it is the policy of the Police Administration that nobody is promoted without the adequate training and competence.
He said as a result the Police Administration is committed to building the capacity of all personnel within its five-year strategic plan.
Mr Boakye said the training and retraining of personnel is to make them function effectively within the context of the police objectives.
The Officer Commanding of the Training School, Deputy Superintendent of Police Samuel Aseidu Okanta advised participants to concentrate on their training since it is the cornerstone of their success.
