President John Evans Atta Mills has congratulated the senior national football team, the Black Stars, for their qualification to the finals of the African Cup of Nations tournament in Angola.
''I salute the team for making it to the finals of the competition. I urge you to put up a sterling performance so that you can annex the trophy, just like the Black Satellites did in the last FIFA World Under 20 tournament in Egypt,'' President Mills said in a message to the Black Stars.
The President, who promised the team a special package when they win the tournament, reminded them that “endurance is one of the most difficult disciplines, but it is the one who endures that the final victory comes to''.
He urged them to go into the final match with oneness and singleness of purpose.
''Teamwork, diligence, discipline and motivation has brought you this far. Enter the final match with the same zeal and spirit.''
President Mills also called for prayers and support for the team whilst urging Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars in their national colours.
