Prudential Life Insurance Ghana (PLIG), a leading insurance company in the country recently organised an activation event to introduce their innovative microinsurance product, 'Mekakrawa', to traders at Okaishie Market in Accra.

The event, which started with a vibrant float through the principal streets of Accra, aimed to create awareness about Mekakrawa, and provide an opportunity for people to have a personal and direct experience with the product.

The procession began at Danquah Circle in Osu and made its way through Oxford Street to Ministries, finally culminating at the bustling Okaishie Market area.

The float garnered attention and curiosity from passersby, drawing a crowd as it moved along the city streets.

The support of notable personalities as brand ambassadors for Mekakrawa, including Fred Amugi, Kojo Nkansah 'Lilwin,' and Afronita, further enhanced the event's impact.

During the activation, the brand ambassadors took to the stage to address the attendees, urging Ghanaians to dispel the misconception that insurance is solely for the elites.

They emphasised the importance of taking advantage of the opportunity Prudential Life Insurance has created with Mekakrawa, an innovative product designed to make insurance more accessible and meaningful for the ordinary Ghanaian.

By signing up for Mekakrawa, individuals can proactively plan and prepare for their future, safeguarding themselves against risks such as permanent disability, natural and accidental death, and critical illness.

Dr Hazel Berrard Amuah, the CEO of Prudential Life Ghana, also spoke at the event, expressing the company's commitment to developing a product that caters to the needs of all Ghanaians, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

She highlighted the affordability of Mekakrawa, stating that individuals can secure coverage for as little as ¢3, with a maximum option of ¢45.

To demonstrate the product's accessibility and the commitment to inclusivity, Kojo Nkansah 'Lilwin' took the opportunity to sign up ten head porters, popularly known as "kayayei," for Mekakrawa.

He generously paid for their one-year subscription using the ¢45 option.

Lilwin explained that his gesture was driven by his desire for Ghanaians, especially those within the informal sector, to take insurance and their future seriously.
