The Ministry of Roads and Highways attention has been drawn to a publication with the headline “Fire guts Feeder Roads Dept” which has been widely circulated on various media platform.
The Ministry wishes to place on record that the story has several factual untruths and misrepresentations.
The story among others stated that the blaze ripped through the building causing widespread damage to the building and its contents. This statement is untrue.
This came to light when the Minister of Roads and Highway Hon. Inusah Fuseine in the company of the Head of Civil Service Nana Akwasi Dwamena, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Dr. D.D Darku and other Directors inspected the building this morning on the 27th of August 2014 to have a firsthand information on the level of damage caused, as reported.
The inspection revealed that the main electrical control switch panel to the building was burnt and defectively damaged.
It should therefore be placed on record that the entire structure and valuable records of the Department of Feeder Road is intact and as such normal official being duties are carried out without any impediment.
