Filmmaker Socrates Safo has said that if he were Asamoah Gyan, he would release the sex tape involving him [Gyan] and Sarah Kwabla.

According to him, he sees no reason why anyone would hold the captain of the Black Stars to ransom over a consensual sexual encounter between two adults.

His comments came in the wake of remarks by a private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw that the police seem to have neglected the rape and sodomy allegation levelled against the footballer and are rather concentrating on the extortion allegation against journalist Osafo Anthony and musician, Ekow Micah.

Osafo Anthony, Deputy Editor of Razz Newspaper, was arrested for allegedly trying to extort money from Asamoah Gyan with threats to release sex tapes involving him and the lady unless he paid GHC 25,000.

On Wednesday August 5, musician, Ekow Micah was arrested by the police for being the journalist’s accomplice.

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw is said to have questioned why the police are deliberately ignoring a report of rape and sodomy against the captain by Sarah Kwabla and concentrating on the alleged blackmail and extortion.

But Socrates Safo remarked on Peace FM’s on Saturday that the issue of rape was news to him. He added that if he were Asamoah Gyan, he would release the sex tape in order to end the saga.

“Gyan didn’t have sex with an animal; he had sex with a lady so where is his crime? Initially, we knew of a sex tape. We were told that the sexual intercourse with Gyan was consensual so why are people now talking about Gyan raping the said lady? This is news to me. What is wrong with Gyan sleeping with a lady? This won’t stop him from scoring goals. If I were Gyan, I would publish the video so this whole hullaballoo would die off. After all, what?” he said.

NEWS-ONE broke a story of a 22-year-old university student, Sarah Kwabla, threatening to make public what she describes as a secretly recorded video of sexual intercourse she had with Asamoah Gyan.

Sarah, in the said publication, said she secretly recorded the video when the captain had sex with her at her apartment in February this year and she had decided to make it public because her relationship with the footballer was not going as she envisaged.

She also claimed she got pregnant after the intercourse and was therefore demanding that Asamoah Gyan gets her a furnished apartment, a housemaid and a monthly stipend of $1,000 for antenatal care.

The case was reported first at the Odorkor police station in Accra and to officials of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) for investigations.
