Milovan Rajevac is in line for a sensational return to Ghana football after his name emerged on a four-man shortlist for the job of technical adviser to Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.

The  former Ghana boss under whom Appiah worked as assistant coach for two years is the favourite to become technical adviser on a list that includes another Serbian coach and one from Denmark.

Appiah himself has nominated former Black Stars coach and Ghana Football Association president Ben Koufie for the role but was told by the committee charged with the recruitment that Koufie, who is into his 80s will not be able to deal with the demands of the job.

It leaves Appiah with no option than to select one of the names on the shortlist that he has been presented with. And that choice will almost certainly be Rajevac who Appiah himself has praised in the past after they worked together at the 2010 Nations Cup and the world cup that same year.

“He treated me with a lot of respect when we worked together and consulted me on all major decisions. We had a really good relationship,” Appiah said.

Rajevac has also maintained a healthy relationship with key decision makers at the Ghana Football Association including president Kwesi Nyantekyie and kept a close watch on the Black Stars since his departure four years ago.

He watched the Black Stars at the 2013 Nations Cup and was in Cairo when Ghana booked a place at the world cup. Reports emerged in the build up to the world cup that he had been approached to work with Appiah at the world cup but that did not materialize.

It seems highly likely now that Rajevac will be the name Appiah will pick on that shortlist to seal a return four years after he walked out four years ag after guiding the Black Stars to a quarter final finish.
