The Sanitation Courts set up recently by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has fined 13 people GH¢120 each after they were found guilty of excessive noisemaking.
The courts which sat for the first time Saturday are aimed at punishing those who flout the Assembly’s bylaws.
The AMA believes the courts will assist in enforcing its by-laws on sanitation and noisemaking which are being flouted with impunity.
Public Relations Officer of the Assembly James Dorgbetor tells Joy News sanctions will be preferred against the accused persons if they default in paying the fines.
