Bolgatanga police have arrested seven suspected armed robbers who were riding in an Opel Astra car at the week and have seized arms and ammunition.
The suspects are Mohammed Alhassan, 38, Bawa Mohammed, 32, Malik Mohammed, 40 and Iddrissu Salia, 34.
The rest are Adamu Mohammed Yeremiah 42, Abdulai Amadu 36, and Stephen Morris, 24.
The police recovered one sub-machine gun and 28 rounds of ammunition in a magazine, two crowbars, two pieces of hypodermic syringes and needles, three safety helmets.
The rest are two pieces of scissors, seven mobile phones and a charger, two touch lights and 880,200 cedis.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ofosu Mensah, the Upper East Regional Police Commander, told journalists that police had information that a car boarded by a group of people, suspected to be armed robbers, was heading towards Fumbisi.
He said police acted on the information and arrested the suspects.
